Morgan Spurlock, the documentary filmmaker who gained fame with his 2004 film "Super Size Me," has died at the age of 53. Spurlock died Thursday, May 23, in New York of complications from cancer, according to a statement from his representative.

"Super Size Me" documented Spurlock's 30-day experiment of eating nothing but McDonald's food. The film became a critical and commercial success, grossing over $22 million worldwide and receiving an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature.
Spurlock went on to direct and produce several other documentaries, including "The Greatest Movie Ever Sold" (2011), "POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold" (2012), and "Mansome" (2016). He also hosted the CNN series "Morgan Spurlock Inside Man" from 2011 to 2014.
